In the competitive world of real estate, individual agents can benefit from a diverse marketing program. Search engine optimization (SEO) should be one of the marketing channels that include in their marketing mix.
Real estate agents can benefit greatly from having a highly visible web presence. Thus, they can benefit from real estate search engine optimization (SEO). How can they benefit? By taking advantage of constant real estate research that's being conducted online.
It's well known that most home buyers and sellers (upwards of 85%) begin their research process on the Web. And this number will only increase online as more real estate companies and resources move onto the Internet. For instance, just over the last few years, the number of real estate search engines and other self-help websites has increased almost tenfold.
So, as the Internet becomes more crowded with real estate websites, individual agents must do more to make their own websites visible. That's where real estate SEO comes into the picture. Many agents understand the need for search engine visibility. But in my experience working and talking with many of them, they don't understand the fundamentals of SEO. Or worse, they understand only enough to be "dangerous."
