Website Submission to Search Engines — Don't Bother

About once a week, I get a spam email from a company offering search engine optimization website submission services. Fortunately, I know enough to realize there's no need to submit a website to search engines — at least not for SEO success.

Thus, any service that offers website submission to the major search engines is a waste of both time and money.

By the time you finish this article, you will realize the same thing.

Basically, these companies provide submission services wherein they will submit your website to major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN and others. But there are two things wrong with these so-called search engine optimization submission services.

Issue #1 - These "companies" usually brag that they will submit your website to hundreds of search engines. My question to you is this. Once you get beyond Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL and Ask (who combined account for nearly 92% of all search), do the other no-name search engines really matter? Obviously not.

Issue #2 - It's not even necessary to submit your website in the first place. If you employ good SEO techniques — such as link building, publishing and networking — the search engines will find your website in a matter of days.

In fact, the search engine companies themselves report that most of the website submissions they receive (up to 95%) come from automated scripting programs designed by unethical search engine marketers. So how much attention do you think they pay to manual submissions these days? Not much!

Conclusion
Don't waste your time or money with a search engine optimization company offering website submission services. Submit your site to a few web directories, or publish a press release online, and the search engines will find you in a week or less.
